Things to consider:
- Use the standard affordability calculator if you're checking affordability for any other mortgage
- During the application we’ll ask for a full breakdown of your client’s income and outgoings. This may change the amount we can lend
- A sponsor is usually a close relative, but we can consider other relationships
- Sponsor income - minimum £40,000
- Applicant income - £20,000, unless they're a student (no minimum)
- Maximum borrowing of £1,500,000
- Minimum age - applicant must be at least 18
- Maximum age for sponsor - 80 years old at the end of the term on repayment or 75 on interest only and part and part
- Maximum of four applicants - only the income of the sponsor and the highest earning applicant will be assessed.
When assessing applications, we consider the level of debts the customer(s) is committed to relative to their income, how much they've paid off and the credit they have left available. We'll exclude student debt from our assessment.
